GymFun and GymSkills

About GymFun (prep-year 3 girls)

In GymFun we focus on the fundamental movement patterns that will help participants to then progress into more advanced skills or activities. The games and activities in GymFun encourage gymnasts to work with others, co-operate and build self-esteem.

Our program consists of six non-competitive skill based levels, and gymnasts are given regular opportunities to be assessed on their skills and move through the levels.

GymFun FAQ's

How long does my child stay in GymFun?

GymFun participants either move up into GymSkills once they have passed all 6 levels of GymFun, or if they have not completed all 6 levels and are heading into year 4 at school - we transition them to our Junior Girls program (year 4-6 girls).

My child will be absent for tick day - can we do a make-up lesson?

If you know in advance that your child will be away for tick day, please let us know so we can assess their skills the week earlier. If your child is unexpectedly away for tick day we will just wait until the next tick day to assess their skills. Don't stress about their progress - we do tick days at least every 5 weeks.

Can my child participate in TeamGym events whilst in GymFun?

This will depend on the type of event. Typically we invite our GymFun participants to be a part of any displays that we perform - such as at the Glennie Fair, and also compete at our annual Carey Cup.

We do not typically invite GymFun participants to larger TeamGym competitions.

My daughter does not attend The Glennie School, can she do gymnatsics at Glennie?

Our Gymnastics club is open to the entire Toowoomba region, so yes please come along. You do not need to be a Glennie Student to do gymnastics at Glennie.

GymSkills FAQ's

How long does my child stay in GymSkills?

GymSkills participants will stay in this program until they finish year 3 at school - and will then transition to our Junior Girls Program for year 4-6 girls.

Are there levels or assessment days in GymSkills?

GymSkills does have assessment days during each term but there are no 'levels' to move through. GymSkills and our follow on Junior Girls program both draw from the same curriculum which is skill based and is written in 'stages'. This doesn't mean that the gymnasts move up through stages, rather we group gymnasts with similar abilities and social skills to move the whole group together through the skill progressions.

At the end of each term GymSkills participants will receive a certificate with some of their focus skills and achievements of the term.

Can my child participate in TeamGym events whilst in GymSkills?

We also invite GymSkills participants to compete at any TeamGym competitions that we are attending.
